Right from inception Mandal is engaged in activities for the community specifically like assistance to needy and deserving students, assistance to helpless, medical aid to deserving, felicitation of student and persons for their commendable contribution, annual gatherings, Vadhu- Var-Melawa(matrimonial gatherings).
1. Felicitation of Students & Community Members: S.H.M. awards prizes to wards of our Members’ who has achieved extra-ordinary success or marks in S.S.C., H.S.C, University or other examinations. Likewise any member or student of the community who have excelled in various field or received recognition from the Government for their contribution/achievement are felicitated.
2. Educational Assistance to Students: S.H.M. extends financial assistance every year to enable needy & deserving wards of membersto meet expenses of education like fee, books, etc.
3. Late DinkarVasudeoKalwariVasatigruha: The facility of boarding and studies is offered at above hostel situated at SarswatBhawan, Mahim to community students
4. Medical Assistance: Depending on nature of sickness maximum financial assistance of Rs. 10000/- is extended to needy member.
5.Assistance to elderly helpless: Elderly helpless are extended financial assistance for medical expenses after they complete due formalities. This help is paid through post or personal visit by Committee Members.
6. VadhuVarMelawa: Every year a gathering is organized for marriageable boys & girls from all constituents of Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community.
7. Medical Camps: Every year S.H.M. organizes free eye testing- spectacles distribution and medical check up camps in rural areas in Ratnagiri District open for all.
8. Science Awareness and Training: With help of VigyanVahini, Pune, S.H.M. orgainses experimental basic science at select schools in Ratnagiri District. It also organizes training programme for Science Teachers from select areas in Ratnagiri District.
9. Common Thread Ceremony: Yearly Common Thread ceremony (maunjibandhan) is organized for benefit of community with a token contribution from participants.
